Staying Warm with Reflectix
There's a whole bunch of us camping in the cold northwoods in Michigan's Upper Peninsula this weekend and though we're surrounded by massive amounts of snow, we are nice and toasty warm inside our RVs.
We're at Tahquamenon Falls State Park and this is an annual event for most of us, filled with snowshoeing, big campfires, hiking, photography and – this year – dogsledding.
We'll have Facebook Live reports Friday and Saturday on the Roadtreking Facebook Group where you can see us live and ask questions. But one question we get asked a lot is how do you stay warm inside the RV? Besides our heaters, the secret for many of us is Reflectix, a reflective bubble wrap form of insulation. It comes in 25 foot long rolls at the big box home improvement stores like Lowes and Home Depot.

Great idea but I am in a 32′ Travel Trailer with 1 slide out and I live in it which I love but every night my windows are dripping wet with moisture. I keep it at 60′ in the evening and 70′ during the day I have a pet parrot that lives with me also. The moisture is awful and I do use a dehumidifier it fills the bucket! I would love to use this but will it trap the moisture in? I also have a air filter for dust and dander from my parrot. I supplement the heat with a radiant heater and use the propane heater at night. What else can I do? Thank you and Happy Camping! ?
We also use the panels to block out light at night and helps keep us cool in the summer I have a panel made for every window.
I made reflectix window covers for all of our 2006 P and then I covered them with Material using a hot glue gun. The reflectrix plain reminded me of the old conspiracy theory people in the movies that used aluminum foil over their windowsto keep the government from listening. Mine look good and keep the heat in.
