ToGo buys RVillage but Thor is the real owner [Breaking News]
Some big RV breaking news today….
The big only get bigger.
RVillage links up RVers in campgrounds, allowing them, and the campground, to communicate via its app. That means the ToGo Group gets all the data on those RVillage users.
Which means Thor Industries also sets them.
There is power in the RVillage data
That is a lot of data about a lot of users that can be used for marketing purposes.
Each name and each profile that RVillage has collected is very valuable/
Sp those 350,000 RVillage users will add to the clout of the ToGo Group, a rapidly growing travel and technology company that has been involved in everything from travel guides to Internet and WiFi boosters to the Roadtrippers website and route planner.
They want to have their hands deep into the RV community/
The corporate powerhouse behind it all
And owning all is Thor Industries, which controls a family of RV brands like Airstream, Dutchman, Jayco, Hymer, Keystone and Entegra, among others.
Thor, in fact, is the largest RV manufacturer in the world.
The influence and power this gives Thor with so many vetted, active, and connected RV users is significant.
The big questions regarding the purchase
How can smaller manufacturers compete with such a footprint?
Will the online communities of RVillage be subject to subtle and not so subtle pitches from Thor?
Will frank discussions about service issues involving Thor products be allowed?
What about online compliments regarding competing brands?
Just how sensitive will ToGo/Thor be to frank and open online chatter that may not always present their brands in a favorable light?
And how will those 350,000 RVillage users who willingly gave up their names and personal information feel when they realize that data is now in the hands of the biggest corporate player in the RV industry.
