10 Most Beautiful Places According to RVers

With so many incredible places to see, how do RVers decide where to go next? Simple. They ask other RVers about the most beautiful places they’ve been!

Have you ever asked a group of RVers to name the most beautiful place they have seen? 

Recently, one of our RV Lifestyle Facebook Group members, Mya, did just that, and boy, she got lots of answers! (Over 500 comments!)

It is a bit of a loaded question since beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But lots of comments included obscure, less-known places that offer picturesque views. 

The following compiles just some of the beautiful places mentioned on the Facebook thread.

Most Beautiful Places According to RVers

The following list was pulled from members of our RV Lifestyle community. These are places that they found to be the most among the most beautiful they have seen. 

1. Orcas Island

Have you heard of this place? It was suggested by our RV Lifestyle member, Linda. 

She said the island “takes your breath away, and peace goes through your soul.” If that is not a rave review, then I do not know what is!

You can stay at the West Beach Resort with your RV and enjoy everything the island offers. 

Orcas Island is located in the San Juan Islands in Washington State. You can take the ferry from Anacortes for a one and half hour ride to Orcas Island. 

Once on the island, you can rent bikes, go sailing, take a pottery class, or enjoy a day of crabbing. Or, explore an art studio, spa day, or charter boat before grabbing a beer at the local brewery. 

2. Okanagan Valley, British Columbia

Calling all wine lovers! Okanagan Valley is a picturesque wine valley that surrounds Okanagan Lake. It is known for its wineries and fruit orchards. 

If you are looking for a pretty region of Canada to tour, then this just might be the place for you. 

If tasting wine is not your cup of tea, you can instead enjoy a day of hiking, rafting, diving, fishing, golfing, boating, or horseback riding. There is no shortage of fun activities. 

There are also many RV resorts offering places to hitch your home away from home. 

3. Thomspon Falls, Montana

The city of Thompson Falls, Montana, is home to Thompson Falls State Park. Picture gorgeous forestland flanking the Clark Fork River in a breathtaking yet rugged valley 

This park is perfect for those folks looking for a quiet, pretty place to stay. It will be especially appealing for those that like to hunt or fish. 

The hunting in the area includes a wide range of different animals, including antelope, moose, and many different types of birds. Personally, I'd much rather shoot these animals with my camera.

4. Glacier National Park

Another mention on our RV Lifestyle thread was Glacier National Park. This one does not surprise me at all! 

This national park is known for its monumental glaciers. But it is also popular among backpackers and those wanting to take in the spectacular views from Going-to-the-Sun Road. 

Many RVers choose to stay outside the park. They do this because many sites inside the park are dry. If you want hookups, you might want to look at a place like West Glacier RV Park. 

You can then jump onto one of the park’s shuttles to take in the sights. 

5. Columbia River Gorge

The Columbia River Gorge is considered a National Scenic Area, which is no surprise to me. This 80-mile gorge offers breathtaking vistas, including cliffs, ridges, spires, and views of the Cascade Mountain Range. 

The gorge is also home to many fun towns with many activities to enjoy. You can enjoy the Mt. Hood Railroad by taking a train ride or railbiking. Then stop into one area's orchards to buy some fresh fruit. 

Or, take a hike on one of the area's vast hiking trails. The most famous landmark to hike to is Multnomah Falls. It requires a short, easy walk to reach the foot of the falls. Then more adventurous folks can hike to the top!

6. Lake Tahoe, California

Lake Tahoe is one of America’s most beloved lakes. And for a good reason!

It is the largest freshwater lake located in the Sierra Nevada mountain range. In some parts, it has crystal blue water and is located near skiing, biking, and the very popular North Rim Trail. 

There are numerous RV parks, including Truckee River RV Park. It is located along the Truckee river's shores and offers full hookups. 

Or stay right in Lake Tahoe at the Lake Forest Campground. Situated in Tahoe City, this campground offers a great location just blocks from Lake Tahoe’s beachfront. However, it is dry camping and does not offer hookups. 

7. Sandpoint, Idaho

Sandpoint, Idaho, is a town for all outdoor enthusiasts. The city is surrounded by the Idaho Panhandle National Forests, which provide endless outdoor opportunities. 

Some tourist favorites include exploring the shoreline of Lake Pend. It is also a great place to see by bike!

If you have kids in tow, then you can also visit the amusement and water park, Silverwood Theme Park/Boulder Beach Waterpark. 

One of our RV Lifestyle members boasted about this town, saying it reminds him of a Hallmark movie town. 

8. Black Hills, South Dakota

The Black Hills range is a small, isolated mountain range in South Dakota. The rising grey rock is rugged and breathtaking. 

The surrounding area offers plenty to do for folks that like to explore outside. 

You can visit Mount Rushmore National Monument, the Badlands, and the Crazy Horse Memorial. 

After hiking or visiting attractions, you can go shopping, take a day at the casino, or visit one of the many museums they have in the area.

9. 10,000 Lakes Region, Minnesota

Another one of our RV Lifestyle members mentioned the 10,000 Lakes region of Minnesota. It's a great recommendation.

This area of the country is absolutely gorgeous. There are actually more than 10,000 lakes in the area–11,842, to be exact!

In addition to camping and outdoor recreational activities, there are other fun things to do. You can take a narrated boat trip to Itasca State Park to spot where the Missippi River begins as a small stream. 

You can also have a beach day or rent a paddleboard. Or enjoy a quiet day on the wetter fishing. 

10. Michigan

Several commenters mentioned Michigan, and if you've followed RV Lifestyle for any amount of time, you'd know we agree! We camp there in all seasons, especially in the fall when the leaves are changing.

From lower Michigan to the Upper Peninsula, there is so much beauty to take in, you can't go wrong in any direction.
