How We Roll: Working Out on the Road

Jennifer has one requirement as we travel: We find a place to work out.
She's a fitness instructor by occupation, though lately, because of our near-fulltime traveling schedule, she's had to cut back on the classes she teaches.
But that doesn't mean she cuts back on her fitness goals.
Admittedly during some trips – like the very hectic Great Lakes Shoreline Tour that we're doing for Verizon Wireless – finding time to pull over and find a gym hasn't happened as much as she'd like. I can usually tell when I better get her to a gym because she starts to get a but cranky.
So in answer to a reader's question where she finds places to work out, we put together this How We Roll in our RV video
Jennifer talks about the Silver Sneakers fitness program. Joining it gets you in over a11,000 locations, as we found with the Anytime Fitness chain we chose. Many health insurance plans also include Slver Sneaker benefits.
Meantime, some of the national fitness places you can look into include:
Curves (women only)
The video above was shot at the Anytime Fitness gym in Saulte Ste Marie, MI.
I bring a stretch band and can do lots of upper body exercises and stretching with it. Squats and lunges take no equipment. We also walk/hike whenever we can. We’ve only been using our RT for about 9 months and so far prefer to stay out of cities and boondock. I’ll check to see if my gym is affiliated with others around the country for future trips
Appreciate the tips and we love your How We Roll reports. Please do them more frequently! Mike, quit taking pictures and start working out. hehehe
Mine, too! I’m not even a member of FMCA but would consider going to meet and greet her. She looks great and if she can stay in shape like that while traveling, there’s hope for us all.
Will Jennifer be teaching at the FMCA Family Reunion rally in Redmond, OR next month??? Super hope so! She’s my inspiration and I’d love it if she did a seminar on staying fit on the road!!!
Bob and I make it our practice to look ahead to where we are traveling to find a YMCA, as members we are welcome to use facilities for free.
We love to boondock and this gives us a place for workout and showering. It’s also fun to see what kind of facilities there are around the US.
