Algonquin Provincial Park in Canada is so big that it rivals many of the National Parks in the U.S. It is almost 3,000 square miles in size and boasts 2,400 lakes and 750 miles of streams and rivers. Moose, black bear, deer, wolves and abundance of other small game thrive there. We were delighted to visit the park earlier this fall during one of our Roadtreking gatherings.

We boondocked around a lake and hiked, canoed, explored and photographed this awesome park, established in 1893 and the oldest and most famous provincial park in Canada.

It's located in an the dividing line between northern and southern Ontario, a couple of hours from Toronto to the southwest and Ottawa to the east.

It's one of those places that belongs on your RV bucket list, offering numerous campgrounds and spectacular scenery.

  1. Does anyone have experience with taking your dog into Canada? Are there special shots record documentation requirements? Thanks for the info!

    Hi folks. Anyone travelling in Canada, at least the western part hoping to find accommodation on the spur of the moment may be in for a surprise as many spots (read that as (many many most) are on a reserved basis, and have been booked for months. Banff National Park booked up solid I’m told, with hours of the system coming on stream early this year.
