As RVers know, the world is full of amazing wonders of nature, just waiting for you to get out there and explore.

Like you, we’re always on the hunt for these places, especially in the U.S. and Canada.

That’s why it caught our eye when the folks at Travel Trivia came up with another of their interesting lists. This time it was “6 Natural Wonders You’ve Never Seen Before.”

The list did include spots in northern Ireland, Italy, and Norway — likely not going to be on your list of summer plans.

BUT…

There are some amazing stops on the list in the U.S. that you just might want to tack onto your bucket list.

Grand Prismatic Springs, Yellowstone, Wyoming

Yellowstone National Park is America’s first national park, a national treasure and a must visit for every RVer. A place so big it lies in part of two states, Montana and Wyoming. I was warned before that the place will get in your blood and you will keep coming back, again and again. We now visit every year. We have written about Yellowstone extensively at RVLifestyle.com and talked about it on the podcast. Travel Trivia says the Grand Prismatic Spring is the spot to visit. Among other things, it’s the biggest hot spring in the U.S. and third biggest hot spring in the world. It’s deeper than a 10-story building and larger than a football field. Mammoth Cave, Kentucky

In central Kentucky, the Mammoth Cave National Park is not only a geological wonder that is unequaled in scope, it is also a great getaway for a long RV weekend, with a terrific campground, beautiful scenery and bike paths through a heavily forested area of gently rolling hills and the lush Green River valley. In fact, we have previously called it the perfect RV destination. Located 15 minutes off I-65 at Cave City Exit (Exit 53) or Park City (Exit 48), the park encompasses 53,000 acres. But it is the 400 miles of caves beneath the surface that make it so dramatic, the largest such cave system in the world. It is probably even bigger. Cave explorers believe there are a couple hundred more miles under there still to be discovered.

Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness, Arizona/Utah

According to the U.S. Dept. of Interior Bureau of Land Management, the 112,500-acre Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness is about 10 miles west of Page, Arizona in Coconino County, Arizona and Kane County, Utah.

The Paria Canyon has towering walls streaked with desert varnish, huge red rock amphitheaters, sandstone arches, wooded terraces, and hanging gardens. The 3,000-foot escarpment known as the Vermilion Cliffs dominates the remainder of the wilderness with its thick Navajo sandstone face, steep, boulder-strewn slopes, rugged arroyos and stark overall appearance. Some of the best slot canyon hiking opportunities on the Colorado Plateau are found here. Deer and desert bighorn sheep inhabit the area.

The wilderness also provides opportunities for backpacking, photography, and solitude. In the northwest portion of the wilderness lies Coyote Buttes, an area of spectacular scenery displaying domes, aprons, fins, corridors, and a variety of small fragile rock sculptures carved in colorful swirling cross bedded sandstone. The variety of colors and textures in the rock formations within the wilderness constantly change with variations in light and weather. This colorful sandstone area creates a feeling of wonder and amazement.
