makes: 1 1/2 quarts

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup celery, chopped finely
3 tablespoons yellow onion, chopped finely
1 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dry mustard
Fresh ground pepper to taste

Directions:

In a medium saucepan, melt butter then add celery and onions and stir as needed over 2-3 minutes over medium high heat. Add the remaining ingredients and whisk or stir to combine. Bring the sauce to a boil then reduce the heat to simmer. Cover the saucepan and allow the sauce to simmer for 15 minutes while stirring occasionally. Remove the sauce from the heat and transfer the sauce to a ball jar or bowl and cover until you are ready to brush the sauce on the meat.
